Methodology: Formative Evaluation Discussion

Purpose

The aim of this discussion is to create a structured plan for conducting a formative evaluation of the proposed project. As outlined in the Week 6 Intervention Fidelity lesson, formative evaluation is critical in ensuring that interventions are executed as originally designed. Consistency in implementation directly influences the success of project outcomes, which highlights the importance of monitoring processes systematically. As a project leader, it is essential to establish procedures that confirm whether interventions align with the intended design. This structured process of review and verification is referred to as formative evaluation.

When intervention fidelity is strong, it demonstrates that the implementation closely adheres to the initial design. Conversely, low fidelity suggests deviations from the plan, which may compromise the effectiveness of the project. Therefore, ongoing evaluation is necessary to detect challenges early, make timely corrections, and maintain the integrity of the intervention.

Instructions

Students are expected to review assigned readings and respond in approximately 150 words. The discussion response should address the following points:

  1. State your practice question in PICOT format.

  2. Describe the formative evaluation plan for your project design, including the tools, steps, and weekly monitoring techniques used to assess progress.

  3. Explain your feedback plan if the evaluation identifies low fidelity in intervention implementation.

All submissions must adhere to current APA formatting and scholarly writing standards. Students are also expected to use Grammarly for editing and provide respectful, professional feedback to peers by asking clarifying questions, encouraging further reflection, and offering constructive suggestions.
