The study underscored the necessity of integrating models like the HBM in nursing practice to improve patient adherence to care plans.

As a future nurse practitioner, I plan to apply the HBM when educating patients about their diagnoses and treatments. While my patient population may not consist solely of individuals with stomas, the principles of the model are broadly applicable. By identifying potential barriers to adherence and developing strategies to overcome them, I can help patients navigate their health challenges effectively. A structured approach to patient education, informed by the HBM, will ensure improved health outcomes through increased patient engagement and compliance.
