The purpose of this reflection is to critically examine my readiness to transition into professional practice as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)-prepared nurse. This process emphasizes how the course has influenced my knowledge, enhanced my critical thinking abilities, and contributed to my professional development. My perspective on healthcare informatics significantly evolved during this course. Initially, I perceived informatics as primarily a technical function involving data entry and record-keeping. However, the learning experience highlighted that informatics plays a far more integral role in modern healthcare. It is a driver of patient safety, evidence-based decision-making, and organizational efficiency.

I was also challenged to critically evaluate ethical and legal considerations in informatics, including confidentiality, secure data sharing, and compliance with regulatory frameworks. Before this course, I did not fully appreciate the depth of responsibility nurses hold in ensuring the ethical use of healthcare technologies.
